Course Description

This course will introduce you to the language that sages use for communication. This language, known as deep talk, has many dialects that assist human beings in the search for enlightenment. Wisdom poetry is the most deeply resonant dialect or form of deep talk. It uses proverbs and other verbal symbols to absorb and express all aspects of human existence on earth. This course will empower you to draw insights from various wisdom traditions and to build your personal style of wisdom poetry.

 

A theme throughout the course will be the writing your book of wisdom poetry. Over this full year course, weekly commentaries, and down-to-earth readings will help you master concepts basic to the crafting of wisdom poetry and short wisdom stories. We’ll use an online software that will facilitate our research, writing, collaboration with associates, producing bookstore-quality output, and managing an authoring career of wisdom poetry in the digital age. Ours will be an interactive village and a stronghold of wisdom in which we engage in dialogues for mutual enrichment and support each other to produce masterpieces of wisdom poetry.

 

 Course Outcomes

After completing this course, you should be able to:

• use proverbs to unleash the charge or powers of verbal symbols and to increase your intuitive powers  

• become one author of a collective manuscript of proverbs

• write your book either as an autobiographical collection of poems or a reflective collection of wisdom tales
